The traditional dance, an intangible cultural heritage project- Changli Yangko- was announced by the State Council on May 20, 2006 as “the first national intangible cultural heritage list project”, which was announced later by the Hebei Provincial People’s Government as “the first provincial intangible cultural heritage list” on June 6, 2006. It was also announced by the Qinhuangdao People's Government as “the first municipal intangible cultural heritage list” on January 21, 2009.
Changli Yangko is a popular folk dance that is widely circulated in Changli County. The Changli Yangko has its distinct characteristics from form to content. From the form of the performance, it is divided into two types: “Street Yangko” and “Field Yangko”. The dance of Changli Yangko emphasizes the cooperation of various parts of the body. The shoulders, hip, knees and wrists moves flexibly and the performance is funny.
Changli Yangko's famous Yangko plays include “Catch Butterflies”, “Run Donkey”, “Saw Cylinder”, “Touch Rod”, “Porter Wang Xiaoer”, “Pick up Jade Bracelets” and “Give Pearls in the Garden”.
In 2002, Changlidi Yangko was broadcasted on CCTV-4 program “East, West, South, North and Central China” and entered CCTV-7 Spring Festival Gala. In May 2010, Changli Yangko went to Shanghai World Expo to participate in Hebei Activity Week Art Show. In 2014, the exquisite show of Yangko, "Hot Yangko", was nominated in the national finals of the "I Want to Play on the Spring Festival Gala" program of CCTV. In July 2016, Changli Yangko participated in the Cultural Exchange Performance of "Retaking the Maritime Silk Road" in Busan, South Korea.
